Broadband - First, the 'Essential' base broadband speed, which is available at no charge, delivers an incredibly fast 10Mbps, which is probably faster than you get at home right now!
TV - is a service that delivers all the available Freeview channels, full screen, at TV broadcast quality, direct to your PC/Laptop/Mac. No need to bring a portable TV from home, which saves on insurance, desk space and carrying that one extra thing to and from campus. You will need to purchase a TV license if you watch 'live' TV from your PC/Laptop/Mac.
However, if that's not enough, the 'Ultimate' broadband package delivers even more - what you get is an amazing doubling of speed with 20Mbs, plus you get to choose a FREE, all inclusive additional service. As part of the 'Ultimate' package you can get all the music streaming that you like, or enjoy gaming with your fellow students or have all your course work backed-up automatically for 12mths.
Optional Services
GameCom - is the student only gaming environment - tournaments are held regularly. Challenge students you know or even set up competitions against another hall - you can even see how you've faired against all the students on our network. You can earn GameCom points through the tournaments or the GameCom portal itself - and there are some amazing prices available. We are always looking for new ideas on how to continue to deliver the best student only gaming experience in the UK.
Back Up - is a service that allows you to keep safe all your course work. It offers you personal storage space for those selected files, which are then automatically backed up every time you connect to the Internet. This provides you with peace of mind - because things do tend to happen to laptops or USB Memory sticks don't they!
MusicCom - is a very popular service, which essentially allows you to listen to new music and increase your spending power. How does it work? In collaboration with our music industry partners, we are able to bring to you new music, and if you let us know what you think, we will reward you with Amazon vouchers to spend on line as you wish.
Practical stuff for the students
All bedrooms will have access to the Internet via RJ45 data outlet. Set-up information and a troubleshooting guide will be available in your room for when you arrive.
The required cable (Patch Lead) from the RJ45 outlet to your PC/Laptop will be provided in your room.
For those students who register for our services, access to the Internet will also be available via WiFi wireless access points in areas around the campus.
