Hamstead Campus features
Security
Hamstead Campus is a fully secure, gated campus with 24/7 security 52 weeks a year. We have a regular team of security guards who are on hand 24 hours a day. The two entrances to the campus are manned by our guards as is our security reception desk in the Hall. When the Accommodation Office is closed our security team are here to help with any queries.
Each room at Hamcam is equipped with an internal phone on which Security can be contacted directly in the case of an emergency.
The Accommodation Services Office is located next to the main entrance to the Hall and provides a key resource for our residents. The team are available to answer any queries, however big or small!
Utilities
Here at Hamcam all utilities are included in the rent. Heating, hot water, electricity, insurance (see below) and broadband (see below) are all included in the price!
For our residents living in the Hall, our cleaning team will clean the communal bathrooms, kitchens and other areas on a daily basis (during the week).
For residents living in the other properties, our cleaning team will clean the communal areas every other day.
Bar & common areas
Hamcam has its own pub! The Village Inn is run by our own team and is available only to the residents of Hamstead Campus. It is fully licenced, has Sky TV and serves hot food. We run regular special offers and promotional nights.
Hamstead Campus also provides other communal facilities including:
- TV room - A television room is available for residents to enjoy 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. With a 50" screen and plenty of comfy sofa space we're sure you'll agree it's a great place to relax when you're not partying or studying.
- Common room - The huge 19th Century common room located within the central area of Hamstead Hall is a great space for many things. Bookable 48 hours in advance for private use it is a great place for fund raising events or large study groups. It is also available at any other time for general use, perhaps you need more space for course work or want to chill out somewhere without the TV on, whatever you want to do the common room is available for you all day every day. The room also includes a wifi hotspot.
- Study area - A study area is provided to allow our residents some quiet space to work away from their rooms. This has been provided in response to requests from our residents this year.
- Sports Hall - The sports hall is located at the end of Hamstead Hall's north wing. With full size badminton and volley ball court markings, two table tennis tables and free use for all residents of Hamstead Campus, it's a great way to keep fit, for free! Simply sign out a key for access.
- Launderette - There is a coin operated launderette located to the rear of Hamstead Hall available for the use of all students at Hamstead Campus. A wash is £1 and a dry is £1.
Internet
Each room at Hamcam is equipped with access for up to 3 devices to 10MB broadband. IPTV is also provided free as part of the service. There are options to upgrade from the standard package to 20MB broadband, join the student gaming world on GameCom, enjoy access to music on MusicCom and obtain peace of mind with inclusion in the Backup package.
Insurance
Hamstead Campus in partnership with Endsleigh Insurance provide contents insurance for up to £4,000 for items kept in the room at Hamcam. This insurance provides reassurance for all of our residents and for those wanting to be extra sure, there is an option to extend the policy to include accidental damage cover.
Parking
At Hamstead Campus, there are parking facilities for our residents. These are provided on a first come, first served basis and we recommend that they are requested on booking in order to avoid disappointment. A nominal fee of £25 is charged, a bargain for at least 43 weeks of onsite parking.
Cycle storage is also provided on site for students wishing to bring a bike to campus. There is a fee of £5 charged for the year.
Sports Pitch
A new floodlit multi-use sports pitch was added in Summer 2011 and is available to residents free of charge.
Free to use ATM machine
A free to use ATM machine is available in the Village Inn.
